To rely on data governance for the collection and analysis of institutional data to support planning, management and evaluation

Why?

Nowadays, it is vital for higher education institutions to have integrated, agile and up-to-date institutional information systems that enable evidence-based decision-making. Likewise, it is essential to respond in a timely manner to all requests for information from other administrations, institutions and university rankings (data governance). The relationship between the UGR and its stakeholders continuously generates a large amount of data that must be recorded, stored, processed and analysed with a strategic view in order to enable decisions in different areas of management and at different levels. In this way, data will become another valuable asset that extends beyond the ICT domain and becomes relevant to the entire university environment.

How?

By implementing a data governance system at institutional level that allows managers, as well as teaching and research staff (PDI), direct access to the information generated by the University for decision-making and performance measurement tasks. By streamlining university management and rapid decision-making based on objective data for a timely response to information requirements at various levels.

Acciones prioritarias

Implementar el gobierno del dato para la recogida y análisis de datos de la institución que permita la autosuficiencia de información a los distintos actores institucionales interesados y a distintos niveles, y que al mismo tiempo preserve y proteja la privacidad de los datos.

Promover una cultura de gestión y toma de decisiones basada en los datos a distintos niveles y de capacitación de las personas usuarias de los mismos.

Desarrollar cuadros de mando a distintos niveles a los que las personas usuarias de la información puedan acceder de manera sencilla.

Apostar por la ciencia de datos y el big data en la gestión de la UGR, al objeto de convertir los datos que genera la institución en información útil en un entorno interactivo y visual que facilite la toma de decisiones.

Identificar el impacto de la información y los datos proporcionados a otras instituciones y organizaciones con el objetivo de mejorar y potenciar la marca UGR.
